Ningbo Polytechnic

Ningbo Polytechnic is a full-time vocational college, established in 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2006, the College became one of the demonstrative vocational colleges under construction in China.

Beilun District of Ningbo, where the College is located, is composed of Ningbo Economic & Technical Development Zone, Free Trade Zone, Daxie Development Zone, Export Processing Zone and Beilun Port. Thus, Ningbo Polytechnic enjoys unique geographical advantage. There are thousands of joint-venture enterprises in the region, among which 38 are the world's top 500 enterprises. NBPT has the honor of having Zhu Gaofeng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Liu Shenggang, Academician, the renowned educator Professor Pan Maoyuan and the former Secretary of the Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education Yang Jintu as senior advisers for the College. The major programs offered by of NBPT are closely tied with local industries, such as mechanical and electrical, molding engineering, computer, electronic information technology, biochemical, and logistics. There are over 8000 full-time students and more than 16,000 part-time students and training students of all kinds. The employment rate of graduates is as high as 99% and the satisfaction rate from the evaluation of the enterprises surpasses 90%.

The goal of Ningbo Polytechnic can be illustrated as “having high degree of openness, strong capability to integrate resources, and having distinctive features to establish our college and a first-class vocational technical college with high quality and high efficiency in China, with international reputation”. The College strives to practice its education theory of “Quality-centered, capabilities-based”. It has been continuously exploring the cooperation mechanism among government, industry and college in the field of school-running, education and employment, which is praised as “Ningbo Beilun Mode” representing China's modern higher vocational education by the experts from the vocational college personnel training level assessment group of the Ministry of Education and Guangming Daily.

The College takes great efforts on innovating the school-running system to meet the needs of the regional economic development, works closely with all levels of government and has established Digital Technology Park of Ningbo Development Zone, Service Outsourcing College, Beilun Human Resources Base and Student Entrepreneur Park. The establishment of Yang Ming College is to explore the reform of the integration of higher vocational education with the secondary vocational education. The College has also actively engaged itself in internationalization programs, by undertaking the foreign aid projects from China's Commerce Ministry, and promoting the international influence of China's vocational education, as well as by creating an internationalized management team, introducing the international professional certificate for electrical engineer students and expanding possibility of students working overseas. The College takes “Harmony” as its cultural core and “Difference” as its ethos. With “Diligence, Credibility and Honesty” as the school motto and “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Excellence” as the college spirit, The College has greatly promoted its campus culture construction project. The College requires both teachers and students to acquire the spirit of soldiers, to learn as a college scholar and to develop with the spirit of entrepreneurs.

Over the past few years, the College has been honored as Vice Chairman Unit of “the National Demonstrative Vocational Colleges Collaboration Committee”, “Chinese Higher Education Cooperative Education Association” and “the National Vocational Education Research Unit” as well as the entrusted entity undertaking the National Vocational Principals’ Joint Conference Secretariat and China Vocational Education Network. The Institute has also become the National Teacher Training Base of Higher Vocational Education of Modern Education Technology, the first Vocational Experimental Base of the National Cooperative Education, the CNC Technology Training Base of the Ministry of Education, the key construction project of the Modern Manufacturing Technology Training Base of Zhejiang Province, the National Occupational Skill Testing Authority for Maintenance Electrician and Zhejiang Japanese Language Self-study Examination College. In 2005, The College was awarded as the Excellent Unit of the National Vocational Education. In 2010, the College has become the unit responsible for undertaking the building up the Teaching Resource Database for Logistics Management profession of the Higher Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education.

In 2009, the College was awarded the first prize of The 6th Session of Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award at the state level, which is a project applied for by Ningbo Polytechnic together with Haitian group, the President Unit of China Plastics Machinery Association, titled as “Exploration and Practice in Building up a “Three in One” Open Platform for Educating Personnel With High Mechanical and Electrical Skills”.
